MongoliaWe have been working in the nation of Mongolia since 1997 in conjunction with YWAM Port Orchard from whom our current ministries were born.

Our work began with King’s Kids teams which ministered in the nation between 1997 and 2001. During that time we met a Mongolian basketball coach named Battulga who was one of the first twenty converts in the nation. He invited us to bring basketball teams to his nation—using sports as a vehicle of sharing the Good News.

Mongolia was one of the last nations to embrace democratic and religious freedom reforms after the fall of the Iron Curtain in 1989. In 1980 there were no known indigenous Mongolia believers. Today there are an estimated 50,000 in over 500 churches. We have had the privilege of participating in that harvest through short-term teams, working with local church planters, and mercy ministries in the nomadic countryside. We are excited about God's future for the Mongolian people.

Camp Battulga

Reaching Youth…Changing a Nation

Our current focus in Mongolian centers on trying to establish the first Christian evangelistic sports camp in the nation. It will be called Camp Battulga.

HISTORY: Youth With A Mission began working in Mongolia in 1997. Due to the youthful population (70% under 30) and their attraction to sports, we took basketball teams that were very effective in sharing Christ. During those days we worked with a professional basketball coach named Battulga who carried a passionate vision to reach the youth of his nation. He died in 2001 at the age of 39.

Ten years later, we believe God has shown us how we can honor his impact and legacy.

VISION: To build the first evangelistic sports camp in Mongolia. It will be named after Coach Battulga, one of Mongolia’s first Christian converts, famous basketball coach, and man of faith. Camp Battulga is our attempt to fulfill his vision.

FACILITIES: Camp Battulga will sit on ten acres of donated land that lies between Mongolia’s two largest cities, Ulaanbaatar and Darkhan, in the beautiful Mongolian countryside. It will contain four basketball courts, a soccer field, housing for three hundred youth, a multi-purpose dining hall and training facility, and other amenities. We believe we will reach 5000 young people each year with the love of Christ. The Mongolian Church currently numbers 50,000.

COST: $534,100 – the avg. price of a four-bedroom home in Seattle, Washington.

OWNERSHIP: Youth With A Mission is leading the fund-raising effort. The Camp will be owned and operated by Living Word Church, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia with whom we have worked for over ten years.
